short description
The project aims to detect and quantify micro pollutant emissions from the sewer network, investigate dependencies between surface properties found in the catchments and micro pollutant concentrations in stormwater runoff, and the optimisation of an alternative method to detect plastic particles in water samples.
Based on literature data and catchment properties (e.g. landuse and surface material) a substance flow analysis is performed. The micro pollutant emissions into the storm sewer are calculated and a theoretical concentration in the sewer is estimated.Alongside that, stormwater runoff from separated sewer systems will be continuously sampled over the course of a year. The goal is to sample every storm event with effective rainfall proportional to the flow. The measurements expand the current data pool as well as validating the results of the substance flow analysis. These results can be used for regional and supraregional applications (e. g. catchment modelling) and urban drainage strategy development (action planning and evaluation).
